My (girlfriend's) favorite jacket (to steal)

The Ghost Whisperer is like the iPhone of ultralight backpacking. Sure, it's overpriced. And sure, it's not the most durable option out there. (If you fall in a patch of briars while wearing it you'll come out a downy bloody mess. Source: me). But it's light and sleek, it has all the features you need, and it gets the job done.

In terms of sizing, I'm 5'11" and between 150-165 (post- and pre-thru-hike, respectively) and the medium was roomy. I can comfortably layer a fleece underneath. However, I would have preferred the torso to fit a bit slimmer, as it could be drafty at times. The sleeves and wrists felt a bit narrow at first, but they were plenty spacious towards the end of my hike, once I'd emaciated myself sufficiently.

Now, note that when they say "Water-resistant", they mean "moisture resistant". This is not a rain jacket. Nor would I recommend layering a rain jacket over the Ghost Whisperer while you're hiking - you'll sweat straight through it.

Hooded ghost whisperer

Best item in my pack. Reliable, warm, and packs small with little weight. Fairly expensive but worth it. Doubles as a pillow ;) Can get a bit clammy and loses loft after a few sweaty trips but nothing a quick wash at home cant fix. Plus it is backed with a lifetime warranty.

Might be my favorite jacket ever! I was a little concerned in the store about its durability because the material is so thin, but after a year of hard use I’ve had no tears or issues. I’m not sure how they do it but it gives me the perfect warmth, whether it’s 40 degrees or 60! This dark blue color is awesome too.

Splurge. Take the jump. Bite the bullet. This puffy is one of my favorite pieces of gear hands down! I hang around camp in it, I sleep in it, I use it as a pillow...it’s the best. I have the black hooded version. Warmest, coziest coat in all the land! No issues with feather loss, tears, etc. Stows in its own pocket. Weighs nothing. Great investment.

I LOVE this jacket ❤️

I’ve worn it up Mount Rainer and to the brewery. It’s super functional and stylish. It’s ultra light weight - good for mild to cold temps if you’re moving or as a thin down layer of you’re in extra cold temps. It’s fitted nicely too which makes it great for around town as well. Packs SUPER light into your bag for overnight extended trips. I don’t leave home without it backpacking or summiting a big peak.
