From skateboarding and motorcycle riding to more recently backpacking and hiking, I’ve been active in the outdoors my whole life. Being new to the Pacific Northwest I am very excited to start exploring everything it has to offer.
Arc'teryx Acrux SL Approach Shoe - Men's
Admittedly, at first glance these are weird shoes. Hard plastic-like outer, neoprene socks (booties?) on the inner...kinda gimmicky appearance overall. However after a brief break in period I’ve really fallen for them. Fairly light, extremely durable, and quite breathable. Having the one piece polymer body and Vibram lugs means kicking/climbing any rocks without hesitation. I’d say I have about 200miles+ on them and are not showing any signs of wear so far, I expect they’ll be with me for a while.
Sawyer MINI Water Filter
Versatile and Easy
These things are life savers. Usually use it with a SmartWater bottle for short trips, but I’ve brought it on loads of multi days. Most of the time I use the bag they give to fill my Camelbak. If you’re not that patient you can fill your bladder with “dirty” water and use the filter inline to drink out of. Been using these for a few years and they are a must have in my book.
