I grew up in the PNW with a love for all things active & outdoors. I grew up playing sports, and have remained active throughout my adult life. Right now, I am passionate about running and Spartan Races (OCR). I completed my first half marathon this year, and will be completing my third Spartan race next month, earning the coveted trifecta medal & title. My goals for next year are to finish a 50K and a 50 mile race, and earn another Spartan trifecta. #aroo!
Mace Jogger Pepper Spray
Mace Jogger Pepper Spray
I never leave for a run, short or long, without my pepper spray. You just never know what can happen out there. This Jogger is small, lightweight, and with the adjustable hand loop, it is super easy to carry along with you. I have been fortunate enough to not have to use it, but it makes me feel so much safer out on the trail.
Fabletics Mid-Rise PowerHold Capri
Favorite Fabletics Powerhold Leggings
These are hands-down my favorite workout pants. They are high wasted (up to my belly button), thick, the perfect length, and last a long time. I do CrossFit, run half marathons, and relax in these leggings. I have had the same two pair for almost a year, and they have barely faded, still fit amazing, and are not see-through. I highly recommend these!
Sierra Designs Whitney Hoodie - Women's
Sierra Designs Whitney Hoodie
This coat is amazingly warm! I wore this coat all last winter here in the PNW, and never felt the need to get a heavier coat or layer underneath. The long length of the coat covers most of your booty, the sleeves have an elastic cuff that keeps snow from getting in. The pockets are deep, and the hood is big enough to actually cover your head and part of your face. Love it!
YETI Rambler Tumbler 20 oz
YETI Rambler 20 oz
I absolutely love my YETI, and use it every.single.day. The seafoam color is my favorite, it holds just the right amount of coffee, and keeps my drinks warm for several hours. My YETI came with the standard lid, not the Magslider- so it can leak out of the top if I am not careful. But I have never had any issues with leaking anywhere else on the cup.
Ascent Native Fuel Protein - Vanilla
Ascent Whey Protein
I like the vanilla whey protein powder in the morning mixed with water. It looks like watered down milk, but it tastes pretty good, and is not gritty. It is a great way for me to get additional protein after working out. I tend to have a sensitive stomach, and this does not updset it. I like Ascent protein powders because it is gluten free, has zero artificial ingredients, and made in the USA.
Osprey Duro 15 Hydration Pack
Osprey Duro 1.5L
I love my Osprey hydration pack. It came with a 1.5L bladder, there are 4 open pockets and 1 zippered pocket on the front, and 1 additional zippered pocket on the back. There is a tuckaway safety whistle included, as well as a hook for keys in the back pocket for safe keeping. This vest is easy to adjust, has a magnet for the straw, and does not bounce around while running. I love that there is enough storage for everything I need for a long run. I can carry the 1.5L bladder, keys, cell phone, 4+ energy gels, chapstick, with room for more in all of the pockets.
Ascent Native Fuel Micellar Casein Protein Powder
Ascent Micellar Casein Protein
I take this micellar casein powder at night with almond milk. The taste is good, but the texture bothers me. It is chalky and can be hard to drink. I have tried mixing it with almond milk and freezing it to make ice cream, and it still has the chalky texture I don’t enjoy. I also mixed it with almond milk and put it in the refrigerator to make a pudding, it was actually a lot better after sitting in the fridge for a couple of days. I do feel as though it helps me in recovery overnight, and I am typically a lot less sore when I drink it as opposed to when I don’t.
Injinji Run 2.0 Lightweight No-Show Running Socks
I bought these socks and ran a half marathon in them the next day. Talk about a gamble! But they were amazing. I didn’t have any blisters, and never even noticed my feet throughout the race. I love the nostalgia of these socks, they remind me of growing up and always wearing toe socks with fun patterns on them.
Nature Made For Her Multi-Vitamins
Nature Made Multi for Her
I take this multi-vitamin with iron, calcium and D3 every single day. It has all of the vitamins I need, plus folic acid, iron, and calcium that women often require more of. I also like that you only have to take 1 tablet a day. They also offer gel coated or uncoated if you prefer the easy to swallow type pills.
TruNature Advanced Digestive Probiotic
I love TruNature Probiotic. With 10 billion live active cultures and 12 probiotic strains per capsule, these help so much with my digestive health. Ever since taking these, I have more energy, my stomach is less bloated and gassy, and I feel as though I digest food so much better. The best part is that these do not require refrigeration, so they are easier to remember to take every day.
LETSCOM Bluetooth Headphones IPX7 Waterproof
I ordered the LETSCOM headphone through Amazon, and love them. The main thing I was looking for when shopping for Bluetooth wireless headphones was that I wanted the controls on the ear pieces, not on the string. These are waterproof and sweatproof, with amazing sound. I also use them all of the time when driving, and hear the other person crystal clear. The battery life is 3+ weeks, and charging takes less than an hour. I think this is a great purchase, and highly recommend them!
Balega Blister Resist No Show Socks
I tried on the Balega socks at Fleet Feet when trying on shoes and ended up purchasing them. They are the most comfortable sock I have ever had on. They are a little bit taller than your typical no-show sock, so that gravel and dirt don’t make their way into your sock. They are thick and cushion your feet without over-heating, and I have had no issues of blisters when wearing these.
Fitbit Versa Smartwatch
I had my Versa from 2018-2019, and it was a great watch for what I wanted at the time. I wasn’t working out a ton, I was just getting back into running, but I wanted a way to record my activities, heart rate, and sleeping patterns. I also appreciated the update to tracking menstrual cycles. Throughout the year I had it, the battery life remained consistent- having to only charge it once a week. The screen never cracked, and I never had any issues with it until the end, when it finally died. I would recommend this watch to anyone.
On Cloudflow - Women's
I tried these running shoes because I love how they look, and a friend had rave reviews about them. At 6.70 oz with a 6.00mm drop, moderate cushion and made for the long-haul, it is a comfortable and stylish shoe. I fell in love with Crimson/ Midnight, with its navy blue, white, and blood orange. I live down a long drive way that we cover with a larger sized gravel. The groves and crevices in the Cloudflow sole tend to hold gravel, and you can feel it as you run; I often had to stop to dig the pieces out. I enjoyed running in these shoes for about 2 weeks, then I noticed my outer ankle starting to hurt. I continued to wear them the next few weeks, but my ankle started to feel worse with each run. I had to quit wearing them and switch to different shoes, and my ankle returned to normal. Also, one shoe lace broke after about 2 weeks of wearing them, which was disheartening. I ended up returning them due to these issues. Adventure on! Rachael
adidas Terrex CMTK GTX Trailrunning Shoe - Women's
adidas Terrex CMTK
I bought the adidas Terrex CMTK on a whim when I saw them on sale for super cheap. I was about to take on my first Spartan race in about a week and thought some trail shoes might help on the course. I barely broke them in, wearing them on a few short runs prior. The Spartan race was going to be the ultimate test on my feet. Through dirt, mud, and water the shoes – and my feet – held up great. After three miles of running and 25 obstacles, I never thought about my feet once. The next time I wore them, I ran over 13 miles and attempted 33 obstacles with the same result. I would recommend these shoes to anyone and noticed a few fellow Spartan races wearing them as well. Adventure on! Rachael
adidas Energy Cloud Shoes
adidas Energy Cloud V
I have always been an adidas fan – I played basketball in them all throughout junior high and high school – and I have continued my athletic journey in them through running. The adidas Energy Cloud V has been with me for well over 500 miles of running adventures – both trail and road. They are the most comfortable running shoe I have ever owned and have never had a blister from them. I have had the same pair for over 3 years, and I still bust them out now & then for a little adventure. Adventure on! Rachael
Hoka One One Clifton 6 Plein Air
Hoka One One Clifton 6
I have a love/ hate relationship with my Hoka’s. Pros- They are extremely comfortable to run in- weighing in at 7.40 oz with a 5.00mm drop, they are well balanced and cushioned. I enjoy the Meta-Rocker technology, which aids in driving me forward throughout each step. I have put over 100 miles on my shoes and have completed my first half marathon in them. Cons – I always get blisters when I wear these shoes. It doesn’t matter what socks or how much moleskin I put on, I always end up with a new blister somewhere. Also, I don’t feel like they are the most stylish running shoe out there, but their comfort (besides the blisters) makes up for it… a little. Adventure on! Rachael
Suunto Spartan Sport
Suunto Spartan Sport
The Suunto Spartan watch has everything that I was looking for. I am an avid runner, love Crossfit, and compete in Spartan races. I was looking for a heavy duty, yet stylish, watch that would be able to track the different types of workouts I participate in throughout the week. The Spartan watch can track over 80 activities, has a built-in heart rate monitor, long battery life (I charge mine once a week), GPS, water-resistant, and has sleep tracking. The watch body is customizable, there are several watch face options to choose from, and your favorite activities appear first in the Exercise screen - making it quick and easy to start a workout. After each workout, you get a report on the length, your heart rate, intensity zones, calories burned, PTE & EPOC, as well as how many hours of recovery you should consider. When running, you are also able to see your distance, pace, cadence, ascent, & descent. Connecting your watch to the Suunto app is very easy; and the app syncs and updates with your watch very quickly. I also link mine to MyFitnessPal, which updates just as fast. I absolutely love this watch, and would recommend it to anyone shopping around for a new sports watch. I have yet to wear it in a Spartan race, but I will next month! Updates on that to come... Venture on! Rachael
