PNW born and raised I was taught early on the love for the outdoors. My heart is in the mountains, rivers and trees. Come with me and I'll show you the great wilds and their gifts... That's what I tell anyone who asks about hiking and the like.
Ruffwear Approach Full-Day Hiking Pack
Best fit dog pack brand!
I have tried multiple brands over the years between my older dog and non of them worked well also he's "paralyzed" by fabric haha . He's now retired from hiking but the new dog I didn't want to go through the same ordeal and thankfully I had hear about Ruffwear several years ago so I immediately went to that brand for trying a pack for Shrimp. It fits beautifully. Well balanced with the proper packing of the saddle bags. He's still able to be agile, no rubbing problems and it makes him look even cuter! Win win in my book! It's held up well on our few trips since we've gotten it. I forsee it to last a long time.
Sawyer Squeeze Water Filter System
Small but mighty
Of the two Sawyer filters I've used this is my favorite. It makes quick work of filtering as a gravity feed and even quicker if you squeeze the water through. I haven't tried it yet but I have heard great things as an inline filter as well. Will update when I try that. Always remember to back flush and let it dry(not keeping it in a plastic non breathable bag).
Platypus Big Zip Evo 3L
Do you drink(water) like a fish then this is for you
I drink a ton of water while hiking. More than most and this bladder has been a life saver for that reason. Less stopping to filter and fill. I like the security of the zip closure with the slide on handle. It's never failed me. Going on I think 3 years now with it. Come home rinse it out and I personally hang dry. You can put them in the freezer in between hikes as well
Black Diamond Spot 325 Headlamp
Recently purchased this early 2019 and could not be happier! The light brightness selection is great, it is not too heavy on the head, the lock feature so it doesn't accidentally turn on is fabulous and it has a memory type function to keep it at the last setting that it was used on.
REI Flash 22 Backpack
Great summit or mini day pack
When you want to go super light for the day or need a summit pack this frame less pack does the job. Has a pocket to hold your water bladder and an access hole to sting the tubing through. I find that 2L of water is it max comfort holding. Filling the Platypus big zip(3L) makes the back bow out a bit and is uncomfortable for me personally. In it's off hiking time I use this as my work backpack and it's perfect for that. Big enough for my lunch bag, paper work and everything else I need for the day.
GSI Outdoors Halulite Minimalist Cookset
Best minimalist pot!
I love this cook set. It's great because it's a pot and a coffee cup that way I only have to carry one item to have two things the rubber grip for the pot removal is awesome too cuz it will stick to your fuel canister and you won't lose it everything fits inside. A small fuel canister fits inside of the pot along with the pot Grabber your spoon and a lighter or you can put an MSR pocket rocket with the spoon the pot Grabber and a lighter and the lid fits on with that
MSR Pocket Rocket 2 Stove
Great light weight stove
I know there is smaller stoves but I actually preferred this one it is a tiny bit bigger but it's not enough to where I feel like I am carrying too much extra weight. It puts off a nice Flame however if you are in windy condition I suggest that you put some sort of Wind Block up I've used a stack of rocks I've also used just myself obviously in a safe manner. I've never had problems with this stove
